Account Finder

Finding the next 100 accounts for a wine means weeks of searching directories that answer yesterday’s questions.

Before

Reps built target lists from directories, review sites and memory, one city at a time, and nobody could say why one bar ranked above another.

With the tool

Pick a place and a wine, and Account Finder ranks the venues and distributors that fit, from public license records, with a short reason for each and an export to a spreadsheet or CRM.

In the live tool every row comes from a state license record. These names are invented.

Tenuta Fondaluce is a fictional estate. Names in this panel are invented.

How it works

  1. 01Public records come in every day: federal permits, state wholesale and retail licenses, award lists, city licenses.
  2. 02Duplicates are merged, and a download that arrives cut short is refused rather than published.
  3. 03A fixed fit score ranks each venue for the wine and the place you chose.
  4. 04A language model writes one line on why each top account fits. It never invents a venue: every row comes from a record.
  5. 05You export the list to a spreadsheet or your CRM.

Where a person checks

Your reps decide who to call. The tool ranks and explains; it never contacts anyone.

Your sentence, one tool

How a build starts: you say what the job is, in one plain sentence

A simplified version of how one of my own tools was built: the weekly account list. One sentence of what the business needs, a short plan, four files, four tests, and a list a rep can use on Monday. Your sentence will be different, and so will the tool.

It ends where it should: a person reads the list, a rep makes the calls, and a customer reorders.

Claude Code~/sales-tools/weekly-list

Build me a tool that reads my sales report and gives each rep the 25 accounts to call this week, with the reason for each, for a person to read first.

Plan

  1. 1.Read the weekly sales report, CSV or Excel.
  2. 2.Score every account: last order, reorder gap, what they don’t carry yet.
  3. 3.Write each rep’s 25 with a reason, for a person to read first.
  • src/read-report.tsReading 1,400 rows... found 3 restaurants that quietly stopped ordering.
  • src/score-accounts.ts
  • src/write-list.tsWrites the list and stops; a person reads it first.
  • tests/score-accounts.test.ts

4 tests pass

npm run weekly-list -- --rep dana

  1. 01Osteria BravaHasn’t reordered in 90 days
  2. 02The Copper TableNew restaurant, no rosé yet
  3. 03North Pier CellarsBuys the rosato, never tried the red
  4. 04Vino CortoOrdered every month until July
  5. 05Larch & LanternOpened a second bar in June

A person reads this before anyone is called.

Dana · Tuesday

Called two. One reordered 10 cases.

A simplified representation of a real build.

Animated terminal: a one-sentence prompt asks for a tool that gives each rep 25 accounts to call this week, with a reason each, for a person to read first. A three-line plan, four files and four passing tests follow. The tool runs and lists five accounts with reasons, then the line: a person reads this before anyone is called. The rep’s note: called two, one reordered 10 cases.

Where the data lives

The records are public. Your own customer lists, if you upload them, stay in your account and are never added to the shared data.

The panel shows invented venues for a fictional wine. Real searches run at accountfinder.app.

A version for your business

A private version for your portfolio: your best accounts in, the look-alike accounts you should call next out, running in your own accounts.
